Fill • Eugene Jarque

May 6 to May 31, 2014 • Upstairs Gallery

Art educator Eugene Jarque’s tenth one-man exhibition explores the process of automatism while working on new materials such as aluminium, plastic, cardboard paper and wood. Jarque seeks order and balance in seemingly random accidents of texture and shape, creating new and evolving configurations as he goes along. Works such as the triptych entitled Transitory Form (2014) demonstrate this balance between precise control and free form.

Jarque is a faculty member of the Fine Arts Department of the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) in Manila, his alma mater. He began joining group exhibitions in 1994 and held his first solo show in 2001. He was a 2006 Thirteen Artists Awardee from the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and was twice included in the Top 50 artists in the 2005 and 2002 Philip Morris Philippine Art Awards.
