Finale Art File marks its 33rd year in the Philippine art scene with its annual anniversary show. This exhibit is both a celebratory gesture of longevity and a survey of works by its current line-up of Philippine contemporary artists.
As an art space, Finale traces its roots to the early 1980s as a section of the Finale Boutique at the Atrium, then specializing in the sale of works on paper. In 1983, Finale Art Gallery was established by Vita Sarenas, Inday Tinsay and Ray Albano at Sunvar Plaza in Makati, moving to the LaO Centre in 1997 and opening a separate branch at the SM Megamall Artwalk in Ortigas in 1991. Nine years ago in 2008, Finale moved to its present space in the La Fuerza compound.
Over the years, Finale represented modern Philippine artists such as Ang Kiukok, Romulo Olazo, Malang, and Cesar Legaspi, among others. It continues to hold regular solo and group exhibitions supporting both established and emerging artists and engages in book and catalogue publication.
This year’s show contains a diverse range of recent works produced by Finale’s current roster of 18 gallery artists: Amy Aragon, Annie Cabigting, Lyra Garcellano, Wire Tuazon, Keiye Miranda, Robert Langenegger, Redd Nacpil, Ian Quirante, Carlo Gabuco, Bembol Dela Cruz, Ranelle Dial, Liv Vinluan, Paulo Vinluan, Jeona Zoleta, Carlo Villafuerte, Catalina Africa, Nikki Ocean, and Kim Oliveros.
