Animation can be seen as drawings in motion. Yet the act of drawing itself implies movement. As lead, chalk, ink or even bone make contact with a surface, the gestures through which they are applied are likewise recorded.

With a succession of carefully choreographed frames, the mind can be tricked into seeing a running figure tirelessly chasing after another. Conversely, drawing and motion can also be unplanned, accidental. They can converge with the aid of improvised machines or basic gravity-based contraptions.
